One of the famous Russian-French artist’s pieces presented at the upcoming auction will be Nikolai Alexandrovich Tarkhov’s (1871-1930) light, ethereal painting “Spring Clouds” (estimated at 2000-3000 CHF).

Two watercolor paintings “Scenes of Military Operations” (estimated at 3000-5000) by Ivan Petrovich Pryanishnikov (1841-1909), a creator of battle scenes, will be another lot at the auction.

Provenance: Russia. Belonged to the same family for over a hundred years.

“Flowers”, a gouache painting on paper (estimated at 1200-1800 CHF) by the avant-garde artist Anatoliy Timofeevich Zverev (1931-1986) will be among the offered works. The work of Anatoliy Timofeevich Zverev was highly regarded by Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) and his art was collected by the famous Russian avant-garde aficionado Georgiy Kostaki (1913-1990).

Provenance: gifted to Igor Markevich (1912-1983) by the artist in Geneva. Acquired by the current owner from Markevich’s son in the 80’s. Part of this collection was sold off at Christie’s auction on November 28th, 2016. Lots 72, 73, 74.

The set of 22 “Views of Moscow” lithographs by B. Avanzo from around 1870-1880, watercolored and estimated at 1500-2000 CHF, consists of 19 lithographs with a view of the city and 3 depicting people. The album is bordered with red fabric and gold and black lettering. 4 photographs are watercolored by the famous photographer and lithographer Giuseppe Daziaro, who worked in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg in the 1st half of the 19th century.

An unusual lot - the refectory menu in honor of Nikolai II and Alexandra Feodorovna’s coronation (estimated at 1500-2000 CHF), held after Nikolai II uttered the sacramental oath - will be presented at the auction. May 14th, 1896. Lithography executed by A. A. Levenson based on drawings of famous folklore artist Victor Vasnetsov (1848-1926). In the upper portion, under Nikolai II and Alexandra Feodorovna’s initials, is a portrayal of the coronation story of the Romanov dynasty’s first Tsar Mikhail Feodorovich in Moscow in 1613. In the lower portion, there is a depiction of the greeting scene with bread and salt. In the very lowest portion, there are two images of peacocks, borrowed from the Svyatoslav Anthology.

Provenance: inheritance of Pavlo Skoropadsky and Alexandra Durnovo.

A jewelry box from the turn of the XX century with partitioned enamel (estimated at 1000-1500) is decorated with a leaf-shaped and stylized flower ornament, as well as friezes, which was a defining feature of artist Ivan Saltikov’s work. Russia, 1899-1908.

Note: there is some damage.

9 figurines from the Imperial Porcelain Factory (1950-1960), execution inspired by N.V. Gogol’s (1809-1852) novel “Dead Souls” and his play “The Government Inspector” (estimated at 3000-5000 CHF). The craftsman of this composition is the famous sculptor Boris Vorobyev (1911-1990) from Leningrad. There are two branded identification marks - one blue and one blue and red. Height from 12.5 to 16.5 cm.

The icon “George the Victorious” (estimated at 1500-2000 CHF) features the story of “St. Genus and the Dragon” when George defeats the snake and convinces the citizens to convert from paganism to Christianity.

The composition of the featured icon “Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary” (estimated at 1500-2000 CHF) can be compared to the icon “Archangel Gabriel Announces the Conception of Christ to the Most Holy Mother of God”, painted by Andrey Rublev in 1408 for the Vladimir Cathedral.

The “Lord’s Entry into Jerusalem” icon (estimated at 2000-3000 CHF) features the story of Jesus entering the city of Jerusalem on a donkey. To the left of Him are the apostles set against a background of mountains, and to the right are the walls of Jerusalem.

A big deesis with three icons, presumably 19th century (estimated at 4000-6000 CHF). The style of execution resembles icon painting of the 16th century and shows Saint Peter, the Archangel Michael, the Virgin Mother, Christ, John the Baptist, the Archangel Gabriel, and Saint Paul (left to right).
