10 August 2017 two exhibitions “Alexey and Andrey Yavlensky” and “The prints and photographs of the Revolution time” open at the branch of the Russian Museum in Malaga, Spain.

“Alexey and Andrey Yavlensky”

Alexey Yavlensky (1864–1941) was a Russian expressionism artist, one of the members of the famous group of artists “The Blue Rider”, which also involved Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, Paul Klee and others. Alexey Yavlensky left Russia in 1896, and for many years then his name was forgotten in Russia.

“The return” of Yavlensky started in 2000 with his first exhibition in the Russian Museum. At that time only a little was known about his personality, his family and his ties with the homeland. Thanks to the cooperation of the Russian Museum with the Archive of Alexey Yavlensky (Locarno, Switzerland), and Russian and European collectors, the exhibition “Alexey and Andrey Yavlensky” will introduce the art of Alexey Yavlensky to public in the context of the art of his Russian mentors and friends: Ilya Repin, Igor Grabar, Valentin Serov and others. The son of Alexey Yavlensky, Andrey, who, since his childhood, moved in the artistic circles, likewise became an artist. He had his own bright artistic individuality, and his works are exhibited together with his father’s.
